About Alakazam Labs

Alakazam Labs is a software company that builds custom business software and moves companies off platforms like Quickbase and HubSpot, using AI agent teams. Clients own the code and data, and the same agents keep improving it. Alakazam also makes K2, the software its agent teams run on, free to download at k2.dev.

In plain words: we rebuild your software with AI agents. You own it, and the same team keeps improving it when your staff ask. Our people check the agents' work while we build.

The team

The people you talk to

Alakazam Labs is two founders plus a developer they work with. When you book a call, you talk to the people who do the work.

BB
Baden Ballardco-founder

Baden runs production and customers. He is usually the person on your first call.

RL
Rosson Longco-founder and CTO

Rosson leads the K2 codebase, the software our agent teams run on. He also co-founded LZTEK, which shipped enterprise software for clients.

Our story

From Quickbase builders to agent teams

We started out building on Quickbase and platforms like it, making business apps for companies on no-code tools. Those platforms have helped a lot of businesses, and we know them inside out.

Then AI changed what it costs to build software. A business no longer has to rent a platform and shape its work around it. It can have its own software, built around how it works.

So we changed how we work. Today our AI agent teams do most of the building, and our people check their work.

What we make

What we make

We build for clients, and we build our own products with the same agent teams.

We also run our own company on K2. That is how we learn what works before we set it up for you.

How we work

How we work

We rebuild, you own

You own the code and the data, and you can move them. Any developer can work on the code.

A team, not a tool

Your software comes with its own AI agent team. When your staff ask for a change in plain words, the agents make it, inside the rules you set. If you want our people checking on them as a standing service, that is ongoing care.

You make the rules

Changes go live straight away, after your approval, or on a test copy first. You pick, and we build it that way.

Fast, with real timelines

A typical Quickbase app takes about 3.5 weeks: built and data moved by week 1.5, then two weeks of fine-tuning with your team. Bigger moves with several connected apps take longer. Appalachian Field Service's move took about a month and a half.

No per-user fees

You pay for the build, your hosting, and your own AI plan. Adding staff doesn't add to your bill from us.

We tell you when not to hire us

If staying where you are is the better call, we say so.

Case study

Appalachian Field Service ran on Quickbase for almost 10 years.

They moved to software they own, built by our AI agent teams and checked by our people. Their crews kept working through the move, and their agent team still maintains it.

“Working with Alakazam Labs helped us step back, rethink our processes, and build around what our business actually needed.”

Rosson and team are exactly what you look for in a development partner. They are responsive and thorough. We have had them develop multiple apps for us and every time they have delivered more than we imagined.

Rosson and Baden have been amazing to work with. Our company has implemented a number of different tools over the last 10 years, many of which we self created, and while they got the job done, they were always a little clunky and hard to achieve adoption.
